Explosives Theft in France Blamed on ETA.

Spanish police arrested David Pla and Aitor Lorente on Friday night in a raid in the city of ZaraFrench and Spanish police hunted on Friday for two people who stole explosives and detonators from a quarry in Arthez-Asson near the city of Pau in southwestern France, local news reported. Two armed people driving a car with Spanish plates held an employee at gunpoint at the quarry on Thursday around 5:45 pm. They forced him to switch off the alarm system and left with 15 kilos of explosives. Paramilitary French and Spanish police backed by helicopters stepped up border patrols but could not catch them. A French anti-terrorist state prosecutor took charge of the investigation. The investigation is centered in ETA because of the military-style commando raid used in the assault. South of the Pyrenees, the Civil Guard, Spain's militarized police, has been deployed to the border with Nafarroa (Navarre) and Gipuzkoa, reported the Basque newspaper Gara.
